This is a Carte de visite (CDV) image of Bulloch County native William R. Lee, who resided as an adult in Elmira, N.Y.

A brief on-line bio states: “He was born about 1825 and was a son of James and Lucinda (Lanier) Lee. He enlisted in the Civil War from Elmira, Chemung County, N.Y., and served the state of Massachusetts. He was killed on September 20, 1864. The photo was taken at the A.P. Hart Studio in Elmira.”
